IN06 - Part Two

Two months ago, I showed you a still from shot IN06. The purpose of that still was to experiment with the style of the painted backgrounds of the short film. Below is a video clip from the same shot, but you will see some of the actual animation from the film.

The character, Fritz, has not color or surfaces yet, (I mentioned earlier that I haven't totally decided what that is all going to look like) and the background that you saw in the previous post (the one with the still frame from this shot) is obviously not there. The way this shot has been rendered is a close resemblance to what the animator actually works with during animation.

It should also be noted that this is merely five days worth of work, so the animation on last two poses gets pretty rough. All that is going to be spiced up. The first two poses, however, are pretty close to final with one exception: The pass of adding the Squash and Stretch to the character is not animated until the whole scene is basically done.

This is because the animator works in movement much like a painter works on a canvas: broad strokes and blocks of color first, working down to the little details and polish near the completion.

Click here to watch the clip of Fritz freaking out about the weather forecast of Arizona-desert-like-temperatures and the fact that he has nothing but a pathetic little fan to keep him cool.
